Hi everyone!! Thanks for stopping by our blog! My name is Vanessa and as Isalys likes to say "I was made in America with Cuban parts" too lol. I was born and raised in Miami {and still here}! I've been reading books as far back as I can remember {unfortunately I have a terrible memory so that may not be saying much, haha}.

What do you do for a living: Self-employed

What kind of music do you like: I ♥ all types of music. I'm very random when it comes to that. I'm currently on an 'Alt Nation' kick. Can't seem to stop listening to Mumford and Sons, Florence and the Machine, Passion Pit
Who's your favorite band/musician: English:Mumford & Sons, Kings of Leon and Flaming Lips, Spanish - Mana, Juan Luis Guerra, & Carlos Vives
Hobbies: (Besides the obvious, which would be reading books) I ♥ scrapbooking! I ♥ sitting at my "creation station" and working on layouts. And of course I ♥ taking pictures :)
Favorite Sites: Ours of course! I also ♥ the following: All About {N}, Etsy - I love finding unique goodies, and Goodreads {I can't seem to get off of GR! I may have an addiction} 
Tell us anything random: I love lemon with salt (not just with Tequila!) I eat Sunflower seeds all the time! (Which my friends always made fun of me for but are now eating them all the time as well! So HA!) and I'm obsessed with Black Tea.
What are your dreams/goals: Well, in another life, I'm sure I was a historian/writer! In this life though, my dreams are to win the lottery so that I can read books all day and travel the world! (Because that's realistic right?)
What are your pet peeves: I HATE it when I see people spitting! Especially when they make those strange gargling noises right before they let it all out.... right next to your shoe. Oooohhh and Snot Rockets (as Isa likes to refer to them). GROSS!!!

Hi, I'm Isalys *waves enthusiastically* In case you're wondering how to pronounce my name...it's [ee-sa-lees].

I was made in America with Cuban parts, lol. My culture has always been a big part of my life so I consider myself as much Cuban as I am American. I'm a tax baby...born on April 15.

I am a passionate person.  I try to never half-ass things and believe that hard-work pays off. I also believe that laughter is the best medicine. I love all things British, I am a self-proclaimed Grammarian (like you didn't know that) and have a deeply rooted love for History.

I have twin brothers who are 9 yrs younger than me. They've cost me a lot of money over the years, after all what else are big sisters for other than bailing you out of whatever shenanigans you get yourself into...but I love 'em anyway!

On Oct 24, 2004 I married my gringo, Philip. He's in the Coast Guard and was transferred to Chicago the year we got married so I spent 4 years living in the Windy City. It was a really big culture shock at first, "what do you mean there isn't Pollo Tropical?" and "do I have to have my plantains imported?" But I made some incredible friends so I didn't walk away empty handed!

Overall, I'm a very fortunate person. I have a wonderful family, a great (albeit weird) husband, and some of the coolest, most AMAZING friends and one rockin' book soulmate!

What do you do for a living: I'm a sales rep for manufacturers of hospitality furniture
Favorite Books: This is impossible to answer...lol. My favorite series include: Harry Potter, Vampire Academy, Night Huntress, Lords of the Underworld, Soul Screamers, Parasol Protectorate and more!
Favorite Authors: I'll read anything by Gena Showalter (I love me some sexy smut), Anne Easter Smith (for my historical fix), Sarah MacLean, Julia Quinn, Rachel Vincent, Gail Carriger, Richelle Mead, Jeaniene Frost.
What kind of music do you like: Everything...I'm very eclectic! My iTunes library has everything from pop, rock, country, salsa/merengue, trip-hop and even smooth jazz.
Who's your favorite band/musician: If Shakira or Linkin Park are within 200 miles of me, you better believe that I will be there!
Hobbies: Reading (duh!), playing Sims on my pc, shopping for books & shoes and doing outdoorsy stuff.
Favorite Sites: A few choice blogs out there as well as our own, Facebook (how did I live wthout it?), GoodReads, Amazon, DeliCast (international radio), Yahoo.
Tell us anything random: As I get older, I realize that I have some very interesting quirks. Such as, I have to sleep with socks on, I always eat french fries in pairs, the radio stations in my car HAVE to be in chronological order and I'm addicted to vaseline and/or lip gloss!
What are your dreams/goals: When I was a kid I wanted to be a model AND an archeologist...I keep getting more interesting huh?! Now I would just love to work in a history museum or be a book editor! And of course, travel abroad. I was beyond thrilled to go to England, Ireland & Scotland in 2009...but there are other places I would love to visit!
What are your pet peeves: Bad grammar! Our grammar in this country is atrocious - no wonder people think Americans are dumb.  I do have a slight case of chronic road rage - but I guess being from Miami, you just can't help that.

♥ About Book ♥ Soulmates ♥

We met through a mutual friend in 2008 at a birthday dinner for Isalys. You can say we met through fondue and bonded through books! Not only are our birthdays 2 days apart, but we're both voracious readers and love to learn, especially about History! We soon began our ritual of meeting at Barnes & Noble every week to hang out and see what new books are on the shelves. One day, we ran into Nely from All About {n} who told us about this cool thing called 'blogging'. Side note: Nely is the sister-in-law of a good friend of Isalys'. Anyhoo, we decided to get in on this blogging thing and thus Book ♥ Soulmates was born! We called it Book ♥ Soulmates because we truly consider ourselves book soulmates.
