Friday Blog Hop 8.26.11

TGIF! It's finally Friday! I hope the weekend lasts forever! lol
We're not sure what we'll be doing this weekend yet. We may just keep a low profile and try and relax.
What are you guys up to? Reading anything interesting?
Isalys is reading the latest Night Huntress book and I may be starting it too!
Love it!

This week's Book Blogger Hop question is:
“Non-book-related this week!! Do you have pets?”
{This question is soooo right up Isaly's alley!}

I have three munchkins that are like my kids. Toby and Cassie are Teacup Chihuahuas and Ladybug, who we found on the street, we think is part-Chi/part-Italian Greyhound.  Cassie is the tiniest, the oldest and our Diva; she totally rules the roost! Toby is second oldest and a total Mama's Boy and Ladybug is the youngin' and the brains of the bunch.  I love how they each have such distinct personalities yet get along so well.  I am a HUGE dog lover, but my limit is three...as set by my husband because frankly, if it were up to me, we'd have puppies coming out our ears, LOL!

{{Cassie (left), Toby (left of 2nd pic) and Ladybug, the blonde}}

I own a Rotty named Spikey-bear and an African Gray named Ashes. When naming my rotty I couldn't choose between Spike or Bear {b/c he looked like a bear} so I just went with both! Ashes is grey so uh... yeah.. not pretty creative there huh? lol It's funny when I hear Ashes talk because he sounds just like my stepfather! He even tells the dog "Bad boy!"

We hope everyone has a fantabulous weekend!!!

Tune in Tuesdays: 90s Edition 8.23.11

Tune in Tuesday's is a weekly meme hosted by the super cool Ginger of GReads. It's a meme that showcases the musical side of our interests and hey, who doesn't love music right?! For the next few weeks Tune in Tuesday will have a 90's Edition twist which we're SUPER excited about since we ARE children of the 80's and 90's. So if you want to help her spread the music love head on over to her fabulous blog and join in on the fun!

Vanessa's 1st Pick:
I always feel like going back to the Bahamas whenever I hear this song. Margaritas, anyone?

Isalys's 1st Pick:
Because you know I have to have my ROCK pick :}

Vanessa's 2nd Pick:
Gotta represent Miami!!
If any of you visit us, expect to be greeted by this song at the airport ;-)

Isalys's 2nd Pick:
I loved this song as a kid...before my high school rock years, lol.

We really are having the best time with this feature!!

Hi everyone!

I wanted to take a minute to sorta just "chat" with you. I do chat with a lot of you via Twitter but that 140 character limit is just not cutting it, lol.

I am trying so hard to get back on the horse here and life has not been kind lately :(

I have always tried to be "glass half full" gal. Try to find the reason and positivity in things and frankly, that's getting harder & harder to do. I'm realizing that my Facebook statuses and my tweets lately have just been so negative and even angry! I really don't like that! I don't want to be that girl that everyone's like, "Oh, there she goes again with all her complaining".

I feel like I owe you all apologies because it's not who I am and you know this about me. I'm writing this not just to explain myself to you but for myself as well because it feels good to get things off my chest.

Since June, I had in-laws visiting and staying in my house, my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer, one brother lost his girlfriend and job, my husband & I went through a difficult experience in trying to start a family, work has been INSANELY STRESSFUL and now my other brother isn't getting along with my parents so I have to play referee. I may be over-sharing but I feel like telling you all this will help you understand why I've been the way I've been lately.

I want to thank you all for your support and jokes on Twitter! Laughter is the BEST medicine and it helps more than I can say! I really do have some pretty rockin' friends - even if most of them are in my computer, LOL!

And finally I want to thank my bestie Vanessa for being there. She's done a great job helping take care of the blog while I'm on my "blogcation" and she's also helped get me excited about coming up with new ideas for this Fall. And if that's not enough, she's been there for me to vent to and that in itself is invaluable :)

So again, sorry for the negativity, thanks for the positivity and pray that things settle down for me because I really just want to feel NORMAL again!

XoXo

Friday Blog Hops 8.19.11

Wow! Friday is finally here! It couldn't come fast enough lol!
Our plans this weekend are to have fun, work on the blog, and clip coupons together on Sunday while our significant others play Call of Duty and grunt. :)

What are YOUR plans for this weekend?

Today's Book Blogger Hop Question is:
“What’s the LONGEST book you’ve ever read?”

The biggest book I've ever read has to be Harry Potter's last one. I read it so quickly too, which was a total shame because I really wanted to drag it out seeing as it was the last one.

Oh boy, the biggest book I've ever read was Diana Gabaldon's Outlander. That book was HUGE but boy was it a page turner! I loved every single minute of it!

TGIF!! Woohoo our favorite day is here again! Who's up for a margarita?!
We sure are!!
So what's everyone up to this weekend? Isalys and I will be having some breakfast together tomorrow and then we'll be hitting up our nearest Border's for their closing sale. We're sad to see it go but are grateful to buy books at a reduced price :)

Today's Book Blogger Hop question is:
“Let’s talk crazy book titles! Highlight one or two (or as many as you like!) titles in your personal collection that have the most interesting titles! If you can’t find any, feel free to find one on the internet!”

I actually find The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan to be quite interesting! When I first heard the title of this book I literally pictured a forest with hanging hands and teeth lol. I sometimes take things a bit too literal... can ya tell?!

My choice is The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest. My initial reaction was, "Why would she wanna do that? Dumb *^&^% will get her ass kicked by bugs!"

Important RAK Disclaimer - MUST READ!

Good morning everyone!

This morning we received an email from a RAK participant regarding concerns she had about some e-books that she received as RAK gifts.  She is familiar with DRM (Digital Rights Management) Laws and how they apply to digital media, in this case, e-books.  She was able to determine that the e-books she received were not legally passed along.

We have decided not to disclose the name of the participants for privacy reasons and because we don't want this to become a public scolding or lynching.  However, we feel that it is very important that we address this issue now.

While we have no intention of prohibiting e-books from being gifted for RAK, we MUST prohibit the illegal sharing of e-books.  As book bloggers, we all have far too much respect for this industry to do it the injustice of obtaining and/or sharing books via illegal means.

We ask that you refrain from downloading any illegal copies and that  you most certainly NOT share them with others.  If one of you receive a copy that you have ascertained is illegal, please DELETE it immediately.

In order to avoid this from happening in the future, we have added a new and important rule to the gifting of e-books:

E-book participation is limited to files being gifted directly to a person from the e-book store. Amazon's Kindle Store is set up to allow this, as well as the Kobo store and we believe Barnes & Noble as well.

We are not here to babysit you but to encourage you to share the love of books with your fellow bloggers. If any of you receive an illegal e-book, please feel free to address it directly with the person who gifted you. If you have trouble, or if it happens on more than one occasion, then please notify us. If you cannot play by the rules, you will be banned from RAK.

Thank you all for making this feature so AWESOME!

Cover Art: Fever (The Chemical Garden 2) by Lauren DeStefano

This is the cover to Lauren DeStefano's next book in the Chemical Gardens series. Isn't it beautiful?

I <3 the rocking horse and the colors!

Lauren DeStefano |  Goodreads  |  The Chemical Garden Trilogy
Expected publication {As per Goodreads}: February 21, 2012
Synopsis: Running away brings Rhine and Gabriel right into a trap, in the form of a twisted carnival whose ringmistress keeps watch over a menagerie of girls. Just as Rhine uncovers what plans await her, her fortune turns again. With Gabriel at her side, Rhine travels through an environment as grim as the one she left a year ago - surroundings that mirror her own feelings of fear and hopelessness.

The two are determined to get to Manhattan, to relative safety with Rhine’s twin brother, Rowan. But the road there is long and perilous - and in a world where young women only live to age twenty and young men die at twenty-five, time is precious. Worse still, they can’t seem to elude Rhine’s father-in-law, Vaughn, who is determined to bring Rhine back to the mansion...by any means necessary. In the sequel to Lauren DeStefano’s harrowing Wither, Rhine must decide if freedom is worth the price - now that she has more to lose than ever.

So who else is excited?!
