The Real Vlog is Back!

Time to get up, Buttercup!!

It's another lovely Monday morning and we are happy to say that the REAL vlog starring Isalys AND Vanessa is back :) *woot woot*

We spent an entire Sunday together planning all our awesome blog posts for the year (yes, for the year *phew*) and we made great progress on our top secret project that will be announced very soon...so all-in-all, it was a GREAT day!

And a great day will lead to a great week starting with our first official VLOG for 2011.

So here you go...Book ♥ Soulmates back in action!

Have a GREAT week guys!!

To Grammar or Not To Grammar?

WARNING!
I ramble...
So it's no surprise...at least it shouldn't be...that I love words and I love grammar!  Yes, I'm one of those weird creatures who loves nouns (and spelling) and knows how to use 'em =P  I've taken writing classes not because I want to be a great writer - I have no such aspirations - but because I want to be a great reader, reviewer & maybe one day *fingers crossed* editor.

You've probably also noticed that the majority of the reviews on here have been mine and that's because Vanessa hasn't quite felt comfortable enough to review more often (although she wants to).

Well one evening, during one of my little bouts of insomnia, my brain was spinning with all this grammar knowledge I have stored up there and I thought, "what if I could help Vane become a better writer/reviewer?"  That would give her the confidence she needs to review more :) Hmm?  So I suggested having a little Grammar 101 course with her and she - being the big thinker that she is - thought that maybe I could help others who want help in this area too!  So we thought it might be fun to add some sort of Grammar feature to the Book ♥ Soulmates repertoire.

And here's where I get stuck!
I would LOVE to do something with this because as I said, I love grammar and I have all this really handy information that I would be happy to share - the question is HOW?

Would you guys be interested in some sort of grammar feature?
Especially if I promise to TRY to NOT make it boring!
And if it might make you a better reviewer and/or writer!

If so, how do you guys propose I share my vast knowledge with you?
Tips?
Advice upon request?
Uh....

Help me!!

Vlog Review - Mystery Romance Book

T-G-I-F my lovelies!!!

I decided to do this vlog review thang again.  This time, I'm ranting about a book that I started but just couldn't finish...and here I'll explain why!

I actually filmed this a while back, but dang YouTube took forevahhhhh to upload!  Third time was the charm I guess.

So here you go...

Here's the link to the vid on YouTube in case you have any trouble watching it on here.

US vs. UK (Round 10)

So I've  recently become a fan of Stacia Kane's Downside Ghosts Series.

I have to admit that I had a tough time getting into this series at first because it was so different from everything else that I've read.  I haven't read a lot of UF so I was missing the romantic element, our heroine is pretty much dysfunctional and the world is not a happy place by any means!

However, I felt compelled to keep moving forward with the series and I'm really glad I did :) Stacia Kane creates a unique world that is both terrifying and captivating.  Chess is, as I mentioned, dysfunctional but still so strong and a fighter through & through.  As for the love interest (because there is one), we will fall in love with the most unlikely hero, Terrible!

Anyway, this is a COVER post and here I am rambling away...so let's get to our cover showdown, shall we?

As usual, US is on the left and UK is on the right.

♥Isalys

Book # 1: Unholy Ghosts

 Book # 2: Unholy Magic

Book # 3: City of Ghosts

I actually really like the simple elegance of the UK covers for this series (I usually believe less is more), especially the one for "City of Ghosts".  But as much as I like them, I believe that the US covers really captured the feel of the books!  Having the faces of the characters of the covers can be hit or miss, but I think these are a definite HIT!  The model looks exactly as I picture Chess.  I also love that you can tell from the covers that Downside is dark, scary and unsafe.  It has almost a dystopian feel to it! I'm giving my vote to US for this series!

I haven't read this series yet so I wouldn't know what the characters look like, lol, but I DO like the US version better. Although I can appreciate the simplicity the UK version has to offer, I much rather see the colors used in the US covers. I especially enjoy the blue hues in Unholy Magic. My vote is for US!

PS:  A quick thanks to Ashley from Bookaholic does Blogging for the rockin' new US vs. UK button that Isalys totally stole from her...with her permission of course :)
