1. I had actually written off the romance genre completely, believing that it was all purple prose and terrible writing, until I read Georgette Heyer. Now I’ve devoured all her historical romances, and I’ve even started branching out to other authors in the genre, notably Laura Kinsale and Julie James.
ReplyDelete2. My favorite subgenre of romance is definitely Regency/historical – as long as it’s done well and with an eye to accurate details! I’m normally not as drawn to contemporary and paranormal romances, although sometimes they can be fun too!
3. Aside from Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice (which isn’t technically a romance novel), I’d definitely have to go with Sophy and Charles Rivenhall from Georgette Heyer’s The Grand Sophy. They drive each other crazy, but they also really admire each other’s strength of character, and it’s so obvious they’re meant to be! It also doesn’t hurt that I always picture Richard Armitage as Charles.... :)

I think I'll have to credit my love of romance to Laurell K Hamilton! My first PNR/UF books, and I feel completely in love. I was a mysetery and horror girl all the way until then!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite genre of romance is definitely paranormal
My favorite romantic couple would have to be Cat and Bones from the Night Huntress series :-)
Thanks for hosting this girls!!
And great giveaway!
1.Which author do you credit for your love of romance novels?
ReplyDeleteLike Christina_reads, I had pretty much written off the genre of romance, until I began reading Mary Stewart books. Her Thornyhold and This Rough Magic are both romantic and beautifully plotted.
2.What is your favorite type of romance?
I tend to prefer romances within mysteries, but I'm also fairly picky about them. I love historical romance if it's well done.
3.Who is your favorite romantic couple?
Jane Eyre and Edward Rochester
Oh and my email is gradhgaelmochridhe[at]gmail[dot]com
ReplyDelete1. Elizabeth Lowell closely followed by Jayne Ann Krentz (Way back in the days when they were writing category romances for Silhouette)
ReplyDelete2. I like romantic suspense.
3. Lindsey Danner and Jacob MacArthur Catlin from Elizabeth Lowell's Tell Me No Lies (which is still one of my all-time favorite books).

Thanks for hosting this mini-challenge.
I'm generally not a romance lover, but I've learned I do like some, just not the usual harlequin romance type books.
ReplyDeleteJacqueline Carey's Kushiel's Legacy series was the first books that I LOVED that had a lot of romance. (I'm seriously not spamming, I just REALLY love these books!) And they are fantasy. But since those books I've read quite a bit of PNR romance (BDB by JR Ward for example) and I like some of them. I think my requirements are more story then sex. Or the cat and mouse gets to me too. I get tired of them chasing each other around. But this isn't romance bashing time. Oh, and Outlander which is historical fiction romance is on my favorites list as well.
Sorry, this comment isn't organized like the others. I'm in a hurry cause my baby is trying to kill himself (not really, or not that he's aware of anyway).
But yes, my favorite couple is Phedre and Joscelin from Kushiel's Legacy books followed by Claire and Jamie (probably) in the Outlander books.
I do love a highlander...
Anyway,
Thanks for hosting this challenge!

ReplyDeleteSorry forgot to leave name and email. oops!
ReplyDelete1. Christina Skye--I love her Draycott Abbey series. Romance with a touch of the paranormal.
2. I love a good paranormal romance.
3. This one is a hard one for me. I like Kara and Duncan from Christina Skye's Bride of the Mist. Again it was a good romance with a touch of the paranormal. But there are so many great couples out there it is really hard to choose.

1. Which author do you credit for your love of romance novels?
ReplyDeleteLaVyrle Spencer. I began reading her years and years ago and she is awesome! While I hardly ever read romance anymore, I have kept all her books hoping to pass them on to my daughter.
2. What is your favorite type of romance?
Definitely Historical. I am a history teacher and so Historical romance is right up my alley.
3.Who is your favorite romantic couple?
I would have to pick Clare and Henry from The Time Traveler's Wife. What a great love story and they are such a great couple!
Oops, I forgot to leave my e-mail.

Thanks,

1. I don't really have one.
ReplyDelete2. Like Christina, I love Regency/historical! Paranormal and contemporary come close!
3. I'd love to say Darcy and Lizzie from Pride and Prejudice, though it's not really a romantic book.
twilightforever.edward(at)gmail(dot)com
1. Catherine Coulter's Sherbrooke Bride series is what really got me into romance novels.
ReplyDelete2. I love both Paranormal and Historical romances.
3. Right now my favorite is Gideon and Scarlet from The Darkest Lie by Gena Showalter

1. I stopped reading for fun for many years, after having to read so much in college. There's nothing like being force fed to kill an appetite. I credit my return to reading to a book club that was run by actor John Billingsly, but I discovered that romance is my favorite genre when I read the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton. Now I won't read anything but romance. :)
ReplyDelete2. Impossible to choose! I like erotic romance, historicals, contemporaries, some paranormals and a few romantic suspense. I'm not much into fantasy or YA, and I don't read any inspirational/Christian romance.
3. My favorite couple is almost always the ones from the book I'm currently reading, so right now it would be Bella and Maclean from Sara Mackenzie's 'Return of the Highlander'.

1. I think I've always loved romance, ever since I was old enough to understand what it was about. So, fairytales? OK, I'll just name Jane Austen :)
ReplyDelete2. Contemporary and historical.
3. I have so many I couldn't possibly list them all. Elizabeth and Mr Darcy. Or Anne and Captain Wentworth.
Alessandra
(no email since I don't live in the US, so I'm not eligible for the contest anyway)
1. I started out with YA romance - Candice Ransom. Then moved to Christian romance and Janette Oke. Then Julie Garwood introduced me to romance. So I have to say that those 3 authors together are responsible for my love of romance novels.
ReplyDelete2. My favorite type of romance actually varies depending on my mood. I waiver between historical, highlander, and paranormal. I can deal with others, but I prefer to stick with those three areas.
3. My favorite romantic couple? That is tough. Cheney and Shiloh.

1. I think I'd have to credit Jennifer Crusie or Nora Roberts for my love of romance novels. I read tons of Nora Roberts in high school, and Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie remains one of my favorite books of all time!
ReplyDelete2. I honestly don't have a favorite, it completely depends on my mood. Sometimes I go through contemporary only phases, same goes for historical. Some of my favorite series are paranormal or suspense. I just love 'em all!

1) I read alot of Danielle Steel when I was a girl and I have to credit her some, but I didn't really get into the romance genre until in my 20's when I read Amanda Quick, followed by all the other names that Jayne Ann Krentz wrote under. Now I firmly say I love romance.
ReplyDelete2)My favorite type of romance is usually Paranormal Romance. But I read and enjoy all of them.
3)Honestly my favorite couple is the one I'm reading at the time. I love things about all of them and I can't really say, though I usually use Bride and Vane because I also am not skinny and love that he loves her exactly the way she is.

1. I believe my love of romance came first from Jane Austen honestly. I just loved her characters and situations so much that I decided I could never read something without some type of love story.
ReplyDelete2. My favorite type of love story is definitely Paranormal, but contemporary is fun as well.
3. Favorite romance couple ever?! That's so hard!! Probably Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy, or Callie and Ralson from Nine Rules to Break when Romancing a Rake.
books_are_life@yahoo.com
1. My love of romance novels began with a book title Shanna by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss. Another of my favorites is Midnight Madness by Laurie McBain who is a wonderful author but is no longer writing.
ReplyDelete2. I love them ALL!! I tend to jump around in my settings since if I read too many of one type I get bored and I hate being bored while reading.
3. I have to go with Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth since they are just a timeless couple. Modern wise, I love Eve Dallas and Roarke, their relationship is always evolving and fresh.

I used to read my moms harlequin romances, which I realized later weren't all that great. But Richelle Mead's Succubus Series is AMAZING and I'm also starting J.R. Ward's books and am enjoying them. SO, obviously my favorite is PR but I also like contemporary. My favorite couple is "melanie" and Ian from The Host!
ReplyDeleteFun challenge!
