Feature: How big is your R.A.K?

RAK button FINAL1
{Please click on the RAK button above to be re-directed to our Book Soulmates Store on Amazon. You can find all your favorite titles there and add them to your shopping cart.}

"Random Acts of Kindness" is something I've been dreaming about doing since last year! Isalys and I are always finding bookish goodies to give each other 'just because' {I ♥ my bestie!}. We love seeing the look on the other person's face when they light up after receiving 'that book you've been dying for'. I figured why not create a way to promote goodwill amongst our fellow book soulmates? There's nothing like the feeling you get when doing something thoughtful for another person without expecting something in return. You brighten their day and let them know 'hey, you were thought of today'. :)

COMPLETE RULES RE-CAP:
Please read carefully & follow all rules!  Thank you!
  • Please sign-up each month that you can participate (give as well as receive).
  • Show off your participation by grabbing our RAK button (code is in the right sidebar).
  • Create a wish list (on Amazon, Goodreads, or your blog, etc) and post it in the Google Doc located in each R.A.K post for the month.
  • If you choose to do a R.A.K for someone, check out their wish list and contact that blogger directly for their information.
  • Once you receive a RAK, send us an our new email to [rakbybooksoulmates @ gmail . com] so that we can update the Google Doc. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU SEND EMAILS TO THIS ADDRESS!
  • E-book participation is limited to files being gifted directly to a person from the e-book store.
  • At the end of the month, SHOW US YOUR R.A.K by making a "RAK Wrap-Up" post.  This post should include who you SENT gifts to as well who you RECEIVED gifts from :)
OPEN TO EVERYONE including all our International brethren!
Remember, there's always the Book Depository and they offer FREE shipping!

Easy peezy!!
♥♥♥♥♥

These are some goodies we've given to each other 'just because':

Isalys had gone to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios last year and thought of me, as always :) She bought me this awesome Time Turner key chain from the Harry Potter collection! Isn't it fab?! I ♥ it!

I had also visited Orlando last year and stopped by Downtown Disney (one of my favorite places to shop at while in Orlando, FL). I found this cup I knew she'd drool over - quite literally, she's got a problem.... I kid, I kid.... or do I... anyhoo :P

Aside from sharing a love for sniffing books, we also share a love for all things Tim Burton!

What do you guys think?
{I bought one for myself too, lol}
♥♥♥♥
We encourage everyone to pass the kindness forward!

May all your wishes come true :D

  5. Oh myyyy gooosh!!! What a lovely idea!!
I love giving, which is why we host so many giveaway on the blog, lol!

..but I have to ask.. can I join even though I'm from Germany ? *puppy eyes* I know, shipping to Germany is not so cheap, so I'd understand.

But... I could "wish" for Kindle books?

I have a amazon.com account so for me it's not a problem to gift things.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Of course you can join! I hope there's someone kind enough out there to ship to Germany! That would be an awesome RAK! :D

PS, Kindle books are a great idea!

  7. Awesome!!!! Gosh this idea is so wonderful! I will create a list and join!

    This is a wonderment!

    :))

    ReplyDelete
  8. To Danny: I am thinking about joining too. And I am from the Netherlands. Shipping should be doable if we exchange things, right? We can use thebookdeposetory :) Free shipping!

  9. Okay, I entered :) My list is still short on normal reading books since I only recently have been putting them there. However I do have more wishlists, including cookbooks & manga. (and bento stuff too) But the problem is, that I can't see the wishlists of the other persons? One says the URL doesn't exist, and the other one is a private profile?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Such a great idea girls! You girls come up with the best ideas! Thanks for this, I'll check it out:)

    ReplyDelete
  11. Ok, so... I've taken off the MR Linky and added a Google Doc. Hopefully this should make contacting people easier!

  15. Hey Book Angel, you might be getting TWO books coming your way. Sending email now!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I love this idea! I think I'll switch between the two, or who knows~ maybe sometimes I can do both!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I just bought a book for someone on the RAK list :) I will not say who it is, but the person knows of course ;) I loved buying a book for someone else :) I just hope it arrives safely! It is the first time that I shipped something to a different address then my own.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I love this idea, LOVE!!!!! I added my info, grabbed a button and now I am going to look at wishlists.

    love, Love, LOVE!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I just randomly picked a link and made a purchase for someone! Hope it puts a smile on her face

    ReplyDelete
  20. This is such a wonderful idea! I'm thinking I'll probably alternate, every other month! :) So great!

I did accidentally fill out the form twice, because the first time I forgot the link to my GR list, so if you want to delete that, it's okay. :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. I really love this idea! I will be buying a book for someone closer to the end of the month!

Oh and in the forum some of the links aren't clickable (mine included!) but you can look everyone's wish lists up by email on Amazon. Sorry if that's already been said! :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. If the person has a wishlist on amazon, can we skip notifying them and go ahead and secretly ship so it's an even more of a surprise? :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Also, a lot of my wishlist books are for Kindle, and some are for real books because I have the other corresponding books in physical copies, but Amazon shows that. I think I have mine set up so that someone can buy me something without needing my address, but I'm not sure.

Oh, and I just bought someone something! ;)

  30. I just mailed a book to someone on the list. I had an extra copy. I do have some books I may be getting rid of that I was not that thrilled with to make room.. I will probably look back in March for that. This is an awesome idea. I read a lot but I do not buy a lot anymore. My book buying would cost my family way too much for as much as I read.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I love this its like secret santa ;)

I plan if all goes well to send to three a month so I can get to everyone.

I sent 2 tonight -hope they enjoy and waiting for response on an addy.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hello, I have signed up for the RAK - but was wondering if I could change the link for my wish list. I had put the links to a bunch of different book I wanted in the database, but it just makes things hard to read. If you want, you can take that out and put this link in instead: http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/2162476-tishia?shelf=wishlist

  46. I don't wish to receive so I won't have a wish list but I would love to gift someone once a month and if I can maybe a little more often.

I'm not looking for gratitude just the simple pleasure of knowing that someone got the book they wanted! I love that feeling and I want to pass it on, Books Rock! I'm going to start today!

I think you guys are pretty amazing for thinking this up and then setting the whole thing up!

  70. Hi, everyone!

I think this is a very cool idea, but I have a question. Is there a way to know who is already getting a RAK and who isn't? It looks like someone could potentially get more than one RAK if chosen more than one person, yet others may not receive anything. I would like to pick someone that I know isn't getting anything from anyone else. How we can determine that?

    ReplyDelete
  71. Darlene. If the wish list is made on amazon, when someone has ordered that book for you then it is taken off the list and moved to the purchased part of it. Hope that helps :)
