Book Blogger Hop

Today I'll be joining this super fun Book Blogger Hop created and hosted by the awesome Jennifer of Crazy for Books! She does a wonderful job at hosting this weekly meme and we are proud to be able to join it.

Today's question is:
What's the ONE GENRE that you wish you could get into, but just can't?

I REALLY wish I could get into Historical Romance! I try. I promise I try. Sometimes, I succeed! I read Robyn DeHart's - Seduce Me {The Legend Hunter's Series} and I really really liked it. Unfortunately I've tried to read some others and I just can't get over their "Quivering members" and their cheesiness! Can anybody suggest one they think I'd like??

{I'm totally answering for Isalys right now btw} Isalys just can't seem to get into... hmm.. I'd say Sci-Fi. I don't think she's ever tried really. I just chose that answer b/c she pretty much reads everything else! :D

TGIF!!

  3. That actually sounds just like shelbie and I. I can't get into any historical fiction book. NONE. While I haven't asked Shelbie, I'm pretty sure she's not as into sci-fi as I am. Dystopian yes, sci-fi no.

    My Friday Hop is here.

  8. Old follower stopping by :) I read historical romance and sci-fi every once in a while, but they're not my favorite genres by any means.

Hope you have a great weekend!

  10. I heart Historical Romance, but of course I was a History major in college as well. . .so my passion for it has been around so quite some time! Plus, the added romance just gives it a little kick.

Sabrina Jeffries is pretty good and I haven't even jumped on the whole Lisa Kleypas band-wagon yet even though my friends are obsessed with her stories.

I'm a sucker for Time-travel though, that way you get a mix of history with some contemporary themes throughout. ;) Fun! Fun!

    Cheers, have a great weekend

  11. I totally recommend Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake ... its the only one I've ever read (I don't think Historical Romance is really my think either, hehe), but it's funny and sexy and just plain awesome!! :)

  12. Ugh, I know! Some romance authors get so tied up on using cutesy euphemisms that it ruins the entire scene! As for authors who do it well, I've always loved Philipa Gregory (though the romance aspect is usually pretty light, I just get so caught up in the epic writing and history that I don't care) and Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series was outstanding.

  13. I can't get into the romance genre either or or anything too sy-fy-ish.
I like books about aliens just not anything about cyborgs or robots.. just can't enjoy it.

  14. I'm with Bella!! Nine Rules to Break When Romancing A Rake is probably one of the best romance novels I've ever read! I would definitely recommend that to anyone willing to read romance :)

  15. HA! Vanessa, that's too funny. I'm honored to be among the historicals you've enjoyed. I would say that if you read authors like Lisa Kleypas and Suzanne Enoch and Teresa Medeiros and you still don't love historicals, then they just aren't for you. But don't feel bad. I'm not a huge paranormal fan, I like them in theory and every now and then I'll read one, but for the most part I just can't buy into all that stuff. :-) Thanks goodness for such wide varieties in romance so that we all have stuff we love to read.

  16. Vanessa you should try Lisa Kleypas' Hathaway series the first book is Mine Till Midnight.

I know Isalys isn't here right now but she should try Gini Koch's Alien/Kitty series. The first book is Touched by an Alien, there is a good amount of romance and steamy scenes in that sci-fi series.

  17. Have you tried The Luxe series? It is pretty good!
