Cover Art...That Makes You Go "Oooh"

We usually reserve our Cover Art posts for the big cover reveal of new & upcoming releases.

However, this post is a little different. This week I've seen two covers [for currently available books] that made me *sigh* from their sheer awesomeness!

I'd buy them just to have their covers on my shelf, but it helps if their good...and based on their synopsis and ratings, looks like they're not just pretty after all.

Nearly Departed
by Rook Hastings

{Published February 2010 by HarperCollins}

Synopsis:
"I've seen a ghost," said Emily. "Well, not seen one exactly. Heard one. At least, I think I have!" Everything has a rational explanation. Unless it doesn't. Welcome to Weirdsville...Woodsville is not like other towns. Night falls a little earlier there, the shadows are darker and denser, and everyone knows it's a place where strange things happen. Even if they won't admit it. Bethan would prefer to be anywhere but here. Jay has his theories, but isn't ready to share. Hashim sees more than he'll say, while Kelly's demons are all too flesh and blood. But Emily's freak-out brings them out of denial and face to face with the supernatural. Anywhere else, Friday night would be date night. But not in Weirdsville!

This cover is smokin' {ha! get it...smokin'}. Ok ok, seriously though. I love the colors and the effect of the face in the smoke. It was so well done! Mysterious, captivating and totally sigh-worthy!

Addicted
by Charlotte Featherstone

{Published February 2009 by Spice}

Synopsis:
Friends since childhood, Anais Darnby and Lindsay Markham have long harbored a secret passion for one another. When they finally confess their love, their future together seems assured, sealed with their searing embrace.

But when a debauched Lindsay is seduced by a scheming socialite, a devastated Anais seeks refuge in another man's bed while Lindsay retreats to the exotic East. There, he is seduced again—this time by the alluring red smoke and sinister beauty of opium.

Back home, Lindsay's addiction is fed by the vogue for all things Oriental—especially its sensual pleasures—in fashionable London society. In his lucid moments, Lindsay still lusts after Anais, who can neither allow him near nor forget his smoldering touch. Tortured by two obsessions—opium and Anais—Lindsay must ultimately decide which is the one he truly cannot live without.

So it seems I have a thing for smoke effect because it got me here again, except now it's red instead of aquamarine.
What is there not to love about this cover?
Simple yet dramatic colors {}, killer dress {}, cool font {}.
We got ourselves a winner here folks!
