9/11 - Where Were You?

Today marks the 9th anniversary of the tragic events that took place on 9/11/2001. We were all in one way or another affected by the events that took place that day...either from personal loss or pain felt for the loss of fellow Americans! Today we were remember all those that felt the pain the most!

♥ God bless the heroes that perished trying to help others and God bless those that died in fear while trapped in a burning tower or target plane ♥

This day will be forever known as one of the most painful days in American history!

I remember the details of that day like it was yesterday...

I was at work and my boyfriend (now husband) called to tell me what had happened. I didn't have a TV at my office so I was totally unaware that we were under attack. He was telling me about how the first plane had crashed into one of the Twin Towers when the second plane hit. I remember the sounds of his coworkers screaming and hollering in the background. I was frozen - not understanding why this was happening. His words that moment stayed with me - he said, "Babe, mark my words...we're going to war!" He was right! That was the moment we knew that it was war and life would never be the same :(

I went to the TV repair shop we had next door and borrowed a small set. No work got done that day! The phone's stopped ringing and it felt like the world had stopped turning. My co-worker's cousin happened to be visiting us from NY and she spent the whole afternoon panicked because she couldn't get a hold of her family. I was so worried for her!

We all went home early that day. My mom, who works in Downtown Miami, also left early since we had no idea which other cities were possible threats. Fortunately, there were no other attacks than the ones in NY, the Pentagon and Flight 93 - but it was enough! It was enough to cause a world of fear and pain for thousands of people! It was enough to change the course of our History! It was enough to change the world we live in!

My only fond memory of that day was watching everyone unite regardless of their differences. We were ALL just AMERICANS that day and that was a beautiful thing to watch ♥

Where were you the day the world stopped turning?

  1. I remember that day vividly. I had just started my freshman year of college, and I was at my on campus job when it happened. Someone rushed in and told us because we didn't have a tv in our office as well. I remember I had an English class after work, and we just talked about it the entire class period. All the rest of my classes for that day were canceled.

  2. I lived really close to the city at the time, and I was in high school. The principal came over the intercom and told us that one of the towers was hit, then came on and told us the second was hit, and they suspected terrorists. Not long after that, they told us that the towers had collapsed and they sent us all home because our school became an evac center. I will never forget.

  4. That day was crazy....I was living in Kentucky on FORT KNOX at the time, my husband was in the miltary and the entire base went nuts, sirens went off, the whole base shut-down, no one could leave or get off the base.....it was scary and sad and crazy but amazing to see the familys and country unite together.

  5. I live on the West Coast and was in my car on I-5 headed to the city when I heard it on the radio. I turned around and went back home and turned on CNN.

  6. I only vaguely remember the events of that day . I was in grade school and my mom picked me up in the afternoon. I remember her telling me once we got pretty near home about what had happened. I just remember getting this awful sick feeling, like I do when someone I know dies or has a horrible accident. My uncle was flying out of Boston that day on a different flight.

  7. I was running down the stairs because I was late for school and my dad was waiting for me watching TV in the family room. I remember seeing the planes crash into the towers on TV.

My boyfriend at the time got to stay home from school, he lived in SF. I think I was the only one who didn't think we'd go to war.

  8. Hey! I'm Tina, from the Blog Hop and Follow Friday. I'm kinda a bit late on the hopping this week, but I'm glad that I did get around to it, and found your blog.
I'm definitely a new follower - your blog is wonderful, and so is this post.

Thank you for sharing your story. I was too young to remeber anything from that period of time, and I was too far away...in Australia. But as I'm getting older, I'm beginning to understand the disaster that occured.

  9. What a beautiful post Isalys! On 9/11 I was in class. I was only in grade 7, so I didn't realize the impact that those two planes would have on America. It was a tragic day for everyone. And being a Canadian, who didn't loose anyone I loved that day, I will never know the extent of pain some felt, but I will forever remember the heroes who perished and helped save lives!

    God bless!
