Grammar 101: Spelling

Welcome back to Grammar 101...
where I help the grammatically-challenged become proud Grammarians.
Or at least I try to! lol

A friend of mine shared the funniest article with me and I thought it was just perfect for today's grammar lesson:

Ten Words You Need To Stop Misspelling
{by The Oatmeal}

I cannot take credit for today's lesson!  This hilarity was drawn & written by The Oatmeal.

I hope you guys don't mind my half-assing today's post - but there really isn't much that I can do to make this lesson any funnier or more accurate!

Oh, and feel free to follow @Oatmeal on Twitter - he's a funny mo-fo!

Enjoy and have a better day than yesterday!

  2. I notice a lot of mistakes like these in reviews. More frequently there's spelling mistakes too. It can't be that hard to either copy and paste the review into Word or Open Office can it? You can even install spell checks into browsers - Google Chrome comes with a spell check built in.

  3. So great! We all know the differences and proper uses but sometimes when you are writing, it just comes out wrong. At least, for me...*looks around for someone to agree*

  5. Ash, I'm raising my hand. I agree...
    When I first read the title of today's post, I hung my head and prepared to extend my hands to get my knuckles cracked. I always try to double check my spelling and grammer before posting. I say "always try" because I still have my "oh crap" moments when I find an error after it's been published. Today's lesson is great. We can all use a refresher at times. I am happy to report I passed. This lesson atleast. Thanks.

  7. Thank you so much - I seem to struggle daily with affect and effect and even after looking it up on the internet several times I can never remember this rule correctly - okay let me get this straight; noun = person, place, or thing and verb action - let's see will this lesson affect the way I remember this rule and will I experience the effect I am looking for? Did I get it right? Oh I can only hope I understand this now and can wrap my brain around it and remember. Maybe I will have to keep the dictionary on speed dial in my browser:) hope not! Thanks so much for sharing - you are appreciated.
