How many books do you have waiting for you?

*I love my Billy!*
I don't know about you guys, but I have this little habit of buying more books than I can read at any one given point. I tend to stock up and add them to my shelf so that when I finish my current read, I have lots to pick from for the next. My moods change so I may want to go from historical to paranormal to YA so I like to have options!

Even my mom, who is a major bookworm like us, teases me about it. Then again, she can't laugh too much because she loves to come to my home office, or as she likes to refer to it "her personal library" and pick & choose what she'll read next. I'm more convenient than the library and cheaper than a bookstore, lol!

I tried counting and I have over 50 books on my shelf that I haven't read yet. Some of those were bargain, some were received in the mail, some I bought because I just 'had to have them'. I know that seems like a staggering amount, but I'm not worried about it :) I know I'll eventually get to them all...all in good time!

However, I do have to wonder if my reasoning really does make enough sense to justify 50+ unread books or am I developing a problem?! LOL

What about you guys; do you have this little habit too? If you do, how many books do you have waiting for you?

C'mon guys! Give me big numbers...help me feel better, LOL!

  3. okay are you kidding me... I would love to have just 50 that need to be read... I am afraid my number might be in the 100.... yea... the massive TBR pile throws books at me sometimes. They get mad when I bring new books home.. cuz they know they have to wait longer to be read...

I have joined the Book-a-holic club and I refuse to come clean.. I will keep up with my addiction just fine, lol!!!!

  4. Buddy I'm in your same boat I have about 35+ books in my shelf that I need to read but like you said I like to have them there so when I feel like reading I have diffrent options according to my mood. It seems to me that I like to have my own Barnes and Noble at home even though it's small so relax if you do have a problem at least your not alone (LMBO

  5. I remember the days when I had 2-3 books to read. In the past few years I've acculumated tons of books at FOL sales and through paperbackwap, etc. so I have about 300-400!! I have a whole huge shelf-ful and have books stacked in a bunch of other places too!

  6. I have a huge pile of books on the table next to my bed, and it is HUGE (the table is a bit...big). I have yet to count them, but the stacks are getting high. I am told have an obsession. I have a huge list of books I am requesting from my library, and I entertain the illusion that I'll start on my TBR pile once I finish my ever growing library request list.

  9. I know exactly what you mean. During the last Teacher appreciation at Borders last year, I went totally crazy and bought soooooooooo many books! I think I have over 50 books in my "To be Read" pile and since it's teacher's appreciation again, I bought 3 more, and will probably end up buying more. I'm trying not to buy so many, but some books, like you said I "must have" right now! (not like I'll get to them tomorrow, but like you said, all in good time). At least I feel better knowing I'm not the only one ;-)

  10. I have over 100 books waiting for me to read. I cannot go to a bookstore and not buy at least one book, and I go every weekend. I keep telling my husband I'll quit when I get old and don't want to go anywhere.I'll have a great library by then and won't need to go I'll be an old lady sitting on a chase surrounded with my beloved books.LOL

  12. 50 is not so staggering. I'm up over 100 at the moment lol. But ya I'm the same way I buy way more than I am currently reading and tell myself, I will read it. I will read them all eventually lol.

  13. As of right this second, I have **gulp** 121 books on my TBR. Uh, I think I might have a problem.

  14. Yeah, you guys got me beat by a long shot, lol! Now I definitely don't feel so bad.

I guess 50 seemed like a lot since I'm collecting faster than I'm reading, but I'm sure this is only the beginning!

  18. I have way too many to count on my TBR pile. I have some packed up in many boxes and my bookcase is begging for mercy from the overflow. If I find a book in a bookstore I am afraid I will never find it again so I have to have it now. It is an addiction with me but I always have a book in my purse and am never w/o one so life is gr8!

  19. You have no need to feel bad! Mine is much too big to even count so no worries for you!

  20. I don't think you should fel bad either. Mine stack isn't much higher, around 100 books maybe, and I love when I add another book on there because I know I will eventually read them all :)

  21. I personally think I have you beat at over 300 books to read. I couldn't even give you an amount, because I seriously don't know what I have anymore. I had them organized, and then I moved..so well, things are all askew now. I'm actually in the process of organizing them in a spreadsheet so I know what I have and what I don't...it's killer, and taking FOREVER.

Good luck with your pile, I hope I can get mine down to 50 some day, lol.

  22. I have not been to Barnes & Nobles for 3 weeks now and I am staying away from the library and thrift stores. I don't have 50+ books but I do have enough to overwhelm me. hahaha! Plus I don't have a book shelf right now. Not enough room at my current location but once I move in June... I will be making purchases of not only on couches, dining room sets, etc... but also a book shelf for my little office! haha! I'm pretty sure that if I had room for more books I would have 50+ books that needs to be read.
