US vs. UK (Round 14)

Today’s US vs. UK is a pretty hot book that Isalys is currently discussing in this month’s Tempting Tuesday Feature [hosted by The Unread Reader, Supernatural Snark, Tina's Book Reviews, & Books in the Spotlight].

The fabulous book I’m talking about is:
Some Girls Bite by Chloe Neill([A Chicagoland Vampires Novel)

So we’re BOTH going with the US version on this one. I mean really, it’s just so much prettier! I personally don't like how the UK’s version has the girl floating around. The US version’s girl seems like a tough broad with a nice pink shirt, lol. Isalys and I especially love the spooky house in the US covers backdrop! I also prefer the font used in the US cover over the UK’s. So yeah, overall, I’d say it would be the US cover for us hands down!

What do you guys think?

  1. I actually like the UK cover. I like the clearer image of the US cover, admittedly, but the US cover is pretty much like any one of a dozen or more similar novels on bookshelves. At least the UK cover stands out as being a little more original.

  2. Agreed, I definitely like the US cover better, although the rest of the covers for this series don't impress me much. Like Ria said, they definitely don't stand out very much.

  4. Okay, I was gonna go with the US but then Ria's comment made me reconsider. LOL

  5. LOL Ria's comment is actually making me think too! Although, I still stick to my decision because I like the look of it. Although I will admit it does look like all the other covers... but maybe that's why I like them?

  6. Sorry ladies. I'm going with US all the way. It may look like a bunch of others but the chick on the UK cover looks downright silly holding that sword like that.

  7. Wow, for once, I actually like the US cover a lot more.

  8. I lie the UK cover better and pretty much agree with Ria that it is more original. If I saw the two covers and had to pick which one I would rather read or which one draws me in more without reading the description I would choose the UK cover.

  9. I am going to vote neither LOL

It is just not how I picture Merit at all :)

  10. I actually prefer the UK, it's more eye-catching. Clearer, cleaner.

  11. I'm going to go with US on this one. It's darker and the UK one looks kind of cheesy and out of focus.

To be honest though I'm not really a fan of either cover. Neither looks like a book I would pick up on a whim.

  12. I pick the US cover. I love the pops of pink on such a dark cover.

  13. Yep, I agree. I definitely like the US better this time!

  14. What I gotta know is: why is it that some books are published in some countries but not others.

Today, I received a book about Christian Slater - his only biography - that I have been trying to track down since it came out in 2005 only to find out 3 weeks ago that it's been out of print for 4 years; and can only be found in the UK second-hand. And forked out $35.00 for it to be posted here!!!

Now, I'd like to know why it was never released here in Australia in the first place when Nigell Goodall's stuff has been exported outside the UK before; and yet this one wasn't. It's not like Christian isn't ugly... is it?

  15. The US cover is awesome. The UK cover isn't bad though.
